About the Greater Toledo Area Grant Writers Network

The Greater Toledo Area Grant Writers Network Meeting is for professionals seeking funding for their organizations through the grant writing process. It is based on the Community of Practice model where people of common interests, concerns and organizational issues have an opportunity to learn with and from each other. The meetings, which are open to the novice, seasoned veterans, consultants and anyone in between, focus on professional development, information sharing, collaboration building and support from others engaged in grant writing endeavors.

The Greater Toledo Area Grant Writers Network meets the third Tuesday of every other month (January, March, May, July, September, November) from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. at the United Way of Greater Toledo, currently serving as host facility. Coffee and other beverages are supplied by The Center. Each meeting has a designated topic presentation as well as networking and information sharing opportunities among those in attendance.

Presentation Description:  Free & Low Cost Tools for Fundraisers

Join Andy Wolber for a fast-paced, informative session covering free or low cost tools you can use throughout the grant seeking process. We’ll take a look at savvy email use of email (filtering and plug-ins, such as Rapportive), online bookmarking and notebooks, along with smart keyword searching. We’ll also take a brief look at how social tools such as Twitter, Facebook and Google+ let you share your work -- and how these tools spurred the growth of crowd-funding platforms, such Kickstarter and IndieGoGo.
About Andy: I help organizations leverage technology for social impact. My experience includes staff positions with Michigan Nonprofit Association & NPower Michigan, the Dallas Historical Society, Dallas Theatre Center, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, and volunteer leadership of the Dallas Arts District Friends. I’m also a contributing writer for the TechRepublic Google in the Enterprise blog, and I teach a course in Public Sector Information Technology at Grand Valley State University. I live in Ann Arbor, MI with my wife, Liz, and daughter, Katie.
