A Call to Action

On our own, we have limited impact.  Community groups have access to talented, passionate Ohioans willing to serve.  Existing agencies have programs designed to help community groups improve their communities.

By connecting groups within the community to existing resources, we expand our impact and allow for local differentiation in how programs are implemented and communities are impacted.

The Governor's Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives (GOFBCI) operates several grant programs, serves as a clearing house for funding, and offers various resources for nonprofits serving Ohioans.  We recognized that the office could also encourage partnerships among and between public agencies and faith and community-based groups outside of funding opportunities.  Governor Ted Strickland and GOFBCI Director Greg Landsman began work on A Call to Action during mid 2008.  The Call to Action serves as a way for organizations to help those most in need through free trainings and materials with already existing programs.
