Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Development Assistant will provide clerical and administrative support to the Director of Development as assigned and will provide back-up support to the Events Coordinator as needed. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Will be responsible for data entry for all donations, including checks, in-kind, PayPal, credit cards
  2. Will be responsbile for database entries for all new donors and event attendees
  3. Printing donor letters and ensuring the letters are signed by the appropriate person(s)
  4. Mailing donor letters in a timely manner with the appropriate documentation
  5. Prospect research on prospective donors
  6. Prepare donor and financial reports for development committee and board meetings
  7. Keep track of attendance, take notes at meetings, and prepare formal minutes
  8. Prepare and mail meeting notices, agendas, minutes, and correspondence
  9. Compile and coordinate all mailing lists for newsletters, event invitations, and appeals
  10. Provide backup assistance to the front desk Receptionist and Events Coordinator as requested.
  11. Coordinate monthly luncheons for staff including taking orders, and picking up or receiving delivery.

Experience, Education, and Licensure

Associate degree in a business-related field.  Minimum 1-3 years secretarial/clerical experience.

Prefer candidate have nonprofit and development experience.  Prefer candidate have some events, or fundraising experience as well.  Must have development database software knowledge, such as Donor Perfect.  Experience with the internet, and Microsoft Office software.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated proficiency in the following skill sets:  data entry, strong computer skills, verbal and written communication skills with excellent grammatical and spelling skills. Accurate and thorough, with good attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work independently.  Good understanding of and commitment to confidentiality as it pertains to this position.  Ability to travel as required.  Positive attitude towards the needs, abilities, and rights of persons with disabilities.  Ability to maintain effective, positive working relationships with staff, donors, volunteers, board members, and community agencies.
