Job Description:

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Develop, implement, manage and evaluate the Hope House strategic approach to fundraising. Including, but not limited to, corporate, group and individual donations, major gifts and fundraising events – focused on presenting the organization and its mission with a strong, positive image.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree or minimum five years’ experience in a development or fundraising role.
• Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) accreditation or progress toward it is an asset.
• Experience in the non-profit and social services sector. Experience in working in human services is an asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
• Computer experience and knowledge relative to the position. (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.)
• Capability to manage projects from beginning to end, successfully balance multiple projects and ensure timely and successful project completion with attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with an ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and relate to community contacts as well.
• Ability to work flexible hours to support community education, fund-raising and donor development activities. Access to a personal vehicle to travel to events and activities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Participate in developing the fund-raising strategy and related budget development. Identify development and fund-raising goals in collaboration with CEO and Development Committee.
2. Execute and manage all fund-raising campaigns and activities, including compiling, maintaining and reporting relevant statistics and trends.
3. Manage the major gifts program, which includes research, identification of potential donors, refining the case for giving and developing/maintaining donor relationships in coordination with CEO.
4. Research and collaboratively develop funding proposals for charitable foundations, corporate charitable funds, service clubs and other similar funds.
5. Provide leadership and direction to staff responsible for special events and third-party fundraisers, volunteer committee recruitment and support, solicitation of in-kind and sponsorship gifts and problem-solving as needed. Train and coach fundraising staff/volunteers and other staff to carry out fundraising activities effectively. Collaborate and consult with the CEO as needed.
6. Assist in developing community education events. Act as Hope House spokesperson at events as directed.
7. Effectively supervise and manage the fundraising database, ensuring accurate data entry and updates as well as timely distribution of letters of gratitude, receipts and other communication.
8. Analyze trends in all giving, identifying opportunities and challenges and developing strategies to ensure goals are met. Communicate ideas and/or concerns with CEO and development committee regularly to ensure alignment with goals.
9. Lead collaboration on organizational marketing as it relates to development, including newsletter, e-newsletter, social media and special publications.
10. Work with CEO in leading coordinated approach to relationships with organizations, suppliers, donors and volunteers.
11. Seek opportunities for on-going continuing education in subject areas related to role.
12. Complete other duties as assigned by CEO.
