Role and Responsibilities

The Grandparent Love program is a new program of the Ottawa County Family Advocacy Center.  The initial roles and responsibilities are as follows:

  • In conjunction with the Coordinator, identify and meet with Grandparent headed families.
  • Develop an assessment tool to be completed in a face to face visit with Grandfamilies. This tool would identify the unmet needs of these families.
  • Assist the families in obtaining those services and supports needed to stabilize the family.
  • Coordinate the Grandfamily Support sessions including planning, finding speakers and scheduling.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Hours are flexible and will be based primarily on Grandparent availability.  Attendance at some meetings and community events to promote the program may be mandatory. 


Qualifications and Education Requirements

BCI and I background check required. Licensed Independent Social Worker required.  Basic Microsoft Word and Excel Skills.

Preferred Skills

Additional training and experience working with children preferred.  Ability to perform public speaking as needed.  Strong interpersonal and advocacy skills required.

Additional Notes

This position is the start up for an exciting new program for the agency.  As such, the ability to effectively communicate with clients, other agencies and management will be paramount to program success.
