Development Manager

BACKGROUND

After strategic exploration of the organization’s business model, Advocating Opportunity will now, for the first time since its founding, build out a fund development program that will promise sustainable, contributed revenue, beginning with hiring a Development Manager. The hire is made to understand that establishing the infrastructure is the critical first step in advancing an efficient and productive program.

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES

This new position will lead our efforts to capture, organize, use and analyze constituent data to achieve Advocating Opportunity (AO) organizational objectives. The Development Manager will oversee the identification and implementation of constituent relationship management (CRM) system, developing protocol and processes to support the investment’s full potential.

This position plays the critical role of translating data to the realization of productive relationship management, growing awareness, understanding, and support of AO’s mission. Responsibilities will range from daily oversight of data availability and quality to the implementation of marketing communications plans and programs.

SKILLSETS

  • Database management skills with CRM’s, in particular, including administrative configuration, reporting, dashboards, and data quality skills
  • Well-versed in cloud software management for general database administration, security, back-up, data imports and exports, and integration.
  • Project management skills
  • Must possess excellent analytical, research, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills, with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Position requires proficiency in CRM administration, including prospect and constituent management, data quality, developing reports, as well as a good understanding of nonprofit fundraising processes, donor cultivation, nonprofit marketing, and related financial requirements
  • Proven ability to launch a new system, and lead a culture change process towards a new way of doing things, a plus
  • Understanding of the donor journey and moving the donor from cultivation to solicitation
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take the initiative, resolve problems, follow-through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met promptly
  • Strong experience with most primary office software packages, including MS Excel, Access, Outlook, Active Directory, and other typical software systems
  • Understands general web concepts (HTML, Javascript, and authentication) to liaise/integrate marketing channels and platforms

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree
  • 5 years experience as the primary user and administrator of fundraising CRM’s
  • 5 years experience in fund development
