STATEMENT OF THE JOB:

Reporting to the Vice President of Impact & Outreach, the Community Impact Manager – Education Specialist, is responsible for engaging in community-wide initiatives and helping advance defined strategies that further United Way of Greater Toledo’s Strategic Plan. This individual will help support community grantees in their programmatic goals, outreach to non-granted community partners and support internal staff to share the story of our work.

A key function of this role will be to identify synergies with varying community programs that bolster United Way’s Collaborative Impact Model. This strategy leverages various resources to encourage partnerships, silo-breaking and shared goals amongst human service provides across Lucas County.

Lastly, the Manager will work as part of a cross-functional team to support United Way’s various impact goals in the areas of Education, Financial Stability, Health and Housing, with a special emphasis on Education. The Impact & Outreach Department encompasses individuals who oversee United Way’s community programming functionalities, engagement strategy, public relations, communications and advocacy outreach.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the Education Collaborative under United Way of Greater Toledo’s Collaborative Impact Model by working in tandem with other Lead Partners and Community Grantees in the Education Priority Area.
  • Oversee School-Based and Community Center Hubs strategy by managing relationships with Hub Leads, Hub Directors, and other relevant partners.
  • Work with internal departments to ensure United Way’s Impact & Outreach work is communicated effectively to donors, volunteers, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Partner with Community Analytics and Research Department to executive outcomes, data collection and development of new strategies and partnerships to advance goals, particularly in the Education space.
  • Partner with other Outreach & Impact team members who work in early childcare / school-age care, a leading public policy priority of United Way.
  • Oversee of the implementation of the Community Impact Strategy under the guidance of the Vice President of Impact & Outreach.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum five years’ experience in the responsibilities listed above
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, but able to communicate and seek guidance when needed
  • Professional or academic background in health and human services, community organizing and or education required
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and internet related programs.
  • Candidates will be “graded” predominately on experience; those who hold a bachelor’s degree, GED/H.S. Diploma are encouraged to apply

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

  • Strong understanding of the communities in Lucas, Ottawa, and Wood County
  • Represents United Way of Greater Toledo in an authentic and professional manner at external events
  • Ability to bring staffers and / or community partners together to problem-solve.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, while balancing arising responsibilities with pre-existing deadlines
  • Connector of individuals, organizations, and initiatives across community to enhance partnerships and create positive change in areas of Education, Financial Stability Health and Housing
