Shelter Advocate

Bethany House provides long-term safe transitional shelter and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and their children. The Shelter Advocate position is part-time: Provides support to families in shelter and to callers during weeknight and weekend shifts, and ensures facility security and cleanliness; Requires a High School diploma or equivalent; Associates degree or higher in a social services or related field is preferred OR comparable field experience in domestic violence services and/or residential setting; Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of domestic violence survivors and their children and commitment to a Trauma Informed Practice model; Ability to work with a diverse population and to cooperate in a team environment; Familiarity with community agencies and resources a plus; Able to lift 40 pounds and to climb stairs required.

Bethany House is a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis in Sylvania, Ohio. Qualified employees of Bethany House are eligible for tuition assistance to Lourdes University.
