Site Coordinator – Tutoring

This is rewarding opportunity for retired professionals or for parents seeking a part-time work experience that fits nicely with school calendars.

Program Description: Seeking well-organized, tech savvy professionals who love to work with school aged children. This position coordinates tutoring for K-8 children either during the school day or afterschool.  All adult participants must meet TPS’s background check requirements for working with students.

Job Description: The Site Coordinator is the on-site person that makes the mentoring and tutoring process work at each school. Coordinators have the overall responsibility to assure that the mentors and students have an excellent experience each day. They support teachers’ and administrators’ direction to provide the students extra attention to enhance their classroom performance by organizing tutoring activities from teachers and online resources and helping mentor and tutors utilize them with individual students. The Site Coordinator also assists with daily data collection to help the program measure performance outcomes and ensure program fidelity. The Site Coordinator reports to the Director of Tutoring Programs.

 Job Type: Part-time 12-15 hours per week; 30 weeks during the normal school year, $13.00 per hour.

Qualifications:

  1. Desire to work with adult mentors/tutors performing a community service
  2. Desire to help children succeed in the school environment.
  3. Computer literate (tech savvy) in email, Google products such as Google Sheets and Google Docs, Microsoft Office and general familiarity with spreadsheets and online applications.
  4. Available to prepare for and run programs Monday – Friday during the school day or afterschool. Weekends or evenings are not required. Work schedule coordinates with TPS and Washington Local School schedules. No holiday work is required.
  5. A desire to mentor and tutor students, coordinate with teachers, principals, staff and mentors.
  6. Strong communication skills.
  7. Capability to maintain the organization of mentoring supplies and data.
  8. Ability to recruit, retain and support mentors.
  9. Reliable, versatile and a self-directed multi-tasker. Able to manage multiple systems.
  10. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  11. Experience teaching or working in an educational setting preferred.
  12. Must meet background check eligibility requirements.
  13. Spanish or Arabic speakers a plus.

Rate of pay & available hours:

Compensation for Site Coordinators is based on completing all actions necessary to maintain the program outcomes as described above. The hourly rate is $12.50 per hour.
