We are a non-profit organization directed by a volunteer Board and an executive director. Sylvania Arts programs are funded in part by the City of Sylvania, Sylvania Township, the Ohio Arts Council and private donations/sponsors.

The mission of the Sylvania Arts is to promote the awareness, interest and understanding of performing arts, arts education and visual arts in the greater Sylvania community for residents of all ages.

The Sylvania Arts programs and projects include:

  • The Tree City Film Festival
    • Maple & Main Art & Music Festival
    • Sylvania Community Orchestra
    • Creative Theater for Kids
  • The Party – honoring a person who has contributed to the local Arts
    • Opera on Wheels
    • Arts Education
    • Public Art

SCAC is seeking a leader with a passion for the Arts to continue building our organization, partner with other community groups and create a positive impact. This is an opportunity for a leader to showcase their creativity, passion, and organizational skills to make big cultural impact in Sylvania. This position is 25-30 hours per week.

We need you to …

Strategic Leadership

  • Work with executive board, board, and key partners to develop and implement short and long term mission-driven strategies and programmatic goals
  • Actively recruit and engage with board members, event committees, partnering organizations, and funders
  • Build effective systems to track progress and impact, engage in comprehensive evaluation by listening to all stakeholders and share those findings in a compelling way
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensure programmatic consistency and improvement, while striving for excellence
  • Think creatively and strategically about mission fulfilment, cultivating or enhancing partnerships, leveraging community resources, coalition-building, filling identifiable gaps in community services

Fundraising and Communications

  • Create fundraising strategies and processes to engage existing, and cultivate new, individual donors through memberships, sponsorships and special events
  • Help build upon and execute fundraising campaigns and events, research and write relevant grants, pursue new revenue-generating activities including fee-for-service programming
  • Engage corporate sponsors in mission-focused team-building opportunities to deepen organizational involvement and support
  • Develop new relationships with individuals and businesses to widen our fundraising base and volunteer network
  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications with the goal of creating a stronger, more widely recognized brand
  • Serve as spokesperson, including soliciting press coverage, maintaining Facebook and Instagram communications

 Board of Directors Management and Support

  • Serve as liaison between board, strategic partners, and funders
  • Assist with board development, including onboarding new board members
  • Provide materials and resources to board including monthly reports

Financial, Operational, and Administrative Management

  • Help develop annual budget in collaboration with board finance committee
  • Manage cash flow and expenses in accordance with budget, oversee relationships with major vendors, and ensure prompt reporting for grants
  • Ensure overall efficiency and flow in daily operations
  • Ensure that legal and regulatory requirements are met

What we’d love you to have…

  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to manage time efficiently while working on several projects simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, a relationship-builder who is an inspiring and credible community spokesperson
  • Capability to motivate volunteers and enhance community partnerships
  • Ability to work independently, think creatively, solve problems collaboratively, and show good judgement in decision making
  • Working knowledge of arts programing and ability to get people to work together
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or equivalent workplace experience
  • A sense of humor, an appreciation for joy, the ability to understand the gravity of the work, but understand the importance of healthy work-life balance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, social media, Quick Books and Google products
