Youth Advocate – AmeriCorps Position

The Cocoon and the Ohio Domestic Violence Network is seeking a full-time AmeriCorps member to serve as a Youth Advocate.  We are recruiting a full-time AmeriCorps member to be part of our team until September 30, 2022.  The Youth Advocate will be responsible for providing direct service and support to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, assist in gathering data to accurately address community needs, organize educational activities to engage youth in shelter, provide parent involved learning activities for children, organize after school tutoring programs for school-aged youth and provide respite care.

 

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and vested interest in social service and serving community is required as well as positive and professional written and oral communication skills.  Must be able to pass a background check.  Must also meet all AmeriCorps eligibility requirements.  Upon successful completion of full term of service, member will be eligible for an education award to pay off existing, eligible student loans or return to school.  A living allowance will also be provided.
